I clearly remember sitting transfixed as a child watching as ABBA performed at the Eurovision.  I’d not really learned much about European history at that point so much of the meaning of their song passed me by. It mattered not, as I was completely blown away by the performance and have always loved that song.

So when I was checking the map for possible adventure destinations, one place jumped right out …  Waterloo.  I absolutely had to go there and find out more about the soundtrack to my earlier years.

As I scanned the map, I noticed that in the same sort of region were some other really interesting locations.  Notably Bruges, which was the setting for one of my favourite moves ‘In Bruges‘.  And as luck would have it, Amsterdam, where my daughter would be visiting at around the same time for the legendary ‘4/20’.  I’m not going to get into too much detail there, but if you know, you know.

So it was settled. I would be visiting Belgium and Holland and taking in as many of their interesting sights as I could.  Luckily, my trip was timed for the UK Easter break.  So not only was I going to hit 4/20 but was also right on time for the Spring display of tulips.  As with my previous adventure, I would be travelling in my beautiful little Mini, Dora (the explorer).  And I was going to be living out of my TentBox for 11 days.  I’ve written it up in this blog for anyone else considering the same sort of trip.

The trip itself was far more of an adventure than I could have imagined it would be.  This came as a real surprise to me as I hadn’t expected it to be so much fun! I learned so much, saw so many beautiful sights, and had such a relaxing and chilled out time, I’d recommend it in a heartbeat.  And I know I say this all the time, but I am definitely going to return.  My lesson learned from this trip will be to take a bike! And I would 100% recommend that to anyone heading in this direction.

As before, I’m writing the trip up in days, and adding in any useful information I found in the relevant areas on this site.

I saw my very first fellow TentBoxer during this trip, but only as I was driving back to Calais for Le Shuttle.  I was so delighted, I almost forgot which side of the road I should be on!  It would be so lovely to meet up with other TentBoxers during future adventures.  I’m hopeful this blog will provide some encouragement and tips for anyone thinking of following a similar route.  With that in mind, the route map and links to each of the pages/locations will be provided below.

Happy travels!

Sheryl
